The purpose of this Association shall be to promote the welfare of Wilberforce University, its Alumni and society at large with funding, student referrals and overall support for the good of the continuing existence of the University. We shall also be committed to assist in accomplishing its mission.

The Wilberforce University Alumni Association is organized for the mutual benefit and prosperity of Wilberforce University (WU), its graduates, former students, and others committed to our Alma Mater. As a collective expression of gratitude to WU we form ourselves into this association so that our work and dedication will strengthen and support our Alma Mater ensuing that it remains a viable institution and that memories of our school life will be kept alive.
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE
“The First and The Future”. Wilberforce University (WU) is America’s first private HBCU (Historically Black College and University). Throughout its 165-year history, WU alumni have demonstrated a formidable spirit of resilience and has never wavered from its civic duty to educate, empower, and engage its alumni base to be the change they want to see in the world. With over 7,000 alumni residing in the greater Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware area, the Wilberforce University Alumni Association (WUAA) was organized for the mutual benefit and prosperity of Wilberforce University (WU), its graduates, former students, and others committed helping underserved communities understand the power of their vote to determine their own destiny.
WUAA Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware (Philly, NJ, DE) Chapter is one of the first alumni chapters, dating back to the 1960’s where WU alumni have been instrumental in: recruiting nearly 2,000 students from underserved communities to pursue higher education and to become civically engaged spearheading community outreach programs and GOTV initiatives leading round table discussions on getting involved in the community encouraging students and alumni to serve as election inspectors, poll workers, phone bank operator, political campaign volunteers, etc. partnering with AME churches, civic organizations and HBCU Alliance to conduct voter registration drives.
