“Project FAR”
Project Faith-based Area Recruitment (FAR)
The FAR project is a recruiting initiative aimed at targeting selected churches and mosques (if possible)
for e-recruitment by linking their websites with the chapter’s website.
The Initiative
The initiative would provide first-hand information about WU to both prospective students and parents without having in-person appearances.
This tool would be a conduit between the student and parent(s) and the university through the local chapter.
The Purpose
The project involves identifying those churches (with a focus on AME) that have websites, then contacting the institution about partnering with them to increase awareness and value of having their young high school congregation having access to the local alumni in the hope of furthering their education upon graduation from high school.
The Partnership
To broaden the reach of this initiative, partnerships will be cultivated with the high school Admission Offices in the Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Delaware areas. Through contacts with high school guidance counselors and administrative teams, we host a virtual college fair that can be advertised using school communication outlets.
The Value
Like retail shopping at brick-and-mortar stores continues to decline we must accept the notion that in-person recruitment for college students will become increasingly part of the
past and not the future. We must adopt and embrace the
idea that we cannot attract 21st century students with
20th century models.
